Taiwan Scooters: Scooters are EVERYWHERE!

Taipei is full of motorcycles... absolutely choc-a-bloc with them. There are thousands of them, and at knocking off time, the streets are filled. It can be scary for car drivers to drive amongst them, but in all those thousands, I have never yet seen any Taiwan scooter with covers on it parked on the street ever.

I wonder why not. The market here is perfect for them... inclement weather, heat, dust, ... all the things that metal hates crammed together into 24 hours. For a modest investment, motorcycle owners could protect their 'precious' just a little longer, get a little more mileage out of it, and get a better resale value. But if the drivers would just stop to consider this, the cover market would be tremendous here, even for lower value 2-stroke scooters.

Switch to electric scooters?

I used to have a real scooter, in Taiwan for about one year. Then I got rid of it, but I kind of regretted that. Despite the pollution that they created from their two-stroke engines, the noise, and the parking problems, they provided a very good way to get around an urban metropolis of nearly 7,000,000 people.

They haven't really taken off in other countries, but I do believe, if you can solve the pollution and noise problems, the scooters can provide a viable and inexpensive mode of personal transportation for millions of people, around the world.

So I'm looking forward to electric Taiwan scooters becoming much more common on Taiwan's roads. People are thinking of creative ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Many people are tossing aside their car keys and switching to electric scooters for local travel.

Electric scooters at Urban Scooters are offering great deals on electric scooters nowadays. It's always struck me as a convenient way to get around town, as you don't have to wait for a bus, you can move quickly around urban areas, it's easy to switch modes from riding to pushing to carrying (if you need to)!

I really think that this would be a great way to get around local areas for your errands, such as going to 7-11, banking, going to local grocery stores, trips to school, etc.. So if you see me running around town on one of these, don't laugh! Think about all the $$$ I'm saving: gas money, MRT money, taxi money, etc... Ka-Ching!
